Buying an e-bike should soon become much more interesting
The e-bike premium is set to double from August 15, 2022. This makes buying an e-bike more attractive.
The ecological change must take place through the introduction of new modes of transport. Especially in the city, the car has had its day. Therefore, it is now necessary to give preference to public transport or lighter means of transport such as the bicycle.
In this sense, the National Assembly has voted to upgrade the subsidy for the purchase of a VAE, an electrically assisted bicycle.
The bicycle is a relatively cheap, fast, health and environmentally friendly means of transport. It is a valuable tool at the service of the green transition, as well as a powerful tool for protecting household purchasing power.
A new bonus starting August 15th
As 01Net reports, the eco-bonus increases from 200 to 300 euros when buying an e-bike, and up to 400 euros for low-income households.
A combination of this bonus with a municipal subsidy is still possible, but no longer absolutely necessary for claiming the state bonus. The amendment specifies that there are still too few support systems at the local level outside of the metropolitan areas.
This boost is valid from August 15, 2022 to December 31, 2022. If you are planning to purchase a bike, then it is better to be patient.
The Exchange Bonus and the Other Bikes Bonus
The “Other bikes” bonus ranges from 1,000 to 2,000 euros, it’s about cargo bikes and, this is new, about folding bikes.
The conversion premium is 1,500 to 3,000 euros (maximum 40% of the purchase price). The latter are now available to everyone in the household.
For low-income households, the amendment provides for the bonus for classic bicycles to be opened up to 150 euros per bicycle. It also stipulates that people with disabilities can benefit without any income conditions.
The amendment presented by the Renaissance Group as part of the “Modification of the Finance Law for 2022” was approved by the National Assembly at the session of July 25, 2022 with a very large majority (from 1:18:30 of the session). The bill now goes to the Senate.
