Mercedes-Benz starts with the blockchain project Acentrik on Polygon (MATIC).
Car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz turns to Web3 and develops a marketplace for marketing data on Polygon (MATIC). Thanks to blockchain technology, Acentrik connects professionals able to provide all kinds of data so that they can expand their know-how.
Mercedes-Benz launches its data marketplace on Polygon
The famous car manufacturer Mercedes Benz starts a blockchain project polygon, through its Singapore-based subsidiary Daimler South East Asia. This project, called Acentrik, consists of a marketplace focused on the data trading.
Acentrik is based on Ocean Protocol (OCEAN) technology thanks to a fork from it.
The marketplace sees two types of players intervene: data provider and the data consumers. The former can thus offer for sale on Acentrik the data they wish to use to make financial gain. For this purpose, this data is stored on a computer node. A centralized model such as an Amazon Web Service Server (AWS S3) can be selected, but also the decentralized variant via the Open Source InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) protocol.
Data consumers will actually buy Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT) with USDC. Mercedes explains that the choice of Polygon is due to the low transaction costs but also the fact that the network is used Ethereum (ETH) security.
Of the cost of trading this data, 0.2% is donated to Ocean Protocol and 15% goes to Acentrik for its development.

An economic model focused on professional players
Acentrik is based on a model from shop to shop (B to B). Although the outline is still unclear, the white paper mentions a potential decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) in the future. However, a possible token associated with the protocol is not currently not mentioned.
Specifically, the platform is aimed at all industries that need a lot of data to create models. One of the most representative use cases is the autonomous car. In order to build the most reliable vehicle possible, companies that want to devote themselves to such a project have to analyze enormous amounts of data. Acentrik then presents itself as an intermediary to enable those who have this information to appreciate them.
Companies could then, for example, focus on collecting and drawing on satellite data useful for driving in the services of Acentrik to put them to use.
The case of trading companies is another type of application. This is particularly reflected in the needs Analysis of consumer behaviordepending on various variables such as age, gender or geographic location.
Mercedes does not rule out using its protocol in networks other than Polygon. BNB Chain (BNB), NEAR Protocol (NEAR) or Solana (SOL) are also possible candidates.
Anyway, here’s another example of an industrial giant that got the point technologies in our ecosystem for your own development. Therefore, Acentrik strives to become a leader in the commercialization of Web3-style data.
