Product recall: Beware, this Häagen-Dazs ice cream contains a hazardous chemical component
Several batches of Häagen-Dazs ice cream are being recalled across France because they likely contain 2-chloroethanol, which is potentially toxic. We are making an inventory of affected products.

This affects pots and mini-cups Belgian Chocolate Belgian Chocolate & Vanilla Crunch Biscuit & Cream Macadamia Nut Brittle Praline & Cream Vanilla Brownie & Raspberry Crunch Vanilla Caramel Brownie Vanilla Pecan sold in Leclerc, Auchan, Carrefour, Casino, Cora, Intermarché, U-System supermarkets, Match , Pomona, Monoprix, Franprix, Croque Gel, Metro, Picard, Colruyt, Fresca.
Their best before date is between 03/16/2023 and 04/29/2023.
3/3 stick and mini stick ice creams are also affected. More specifically, these are the following flavors: Vanilla Caramel Almond, Macadamia Nut Brittle, Mix Macadamia Nut Brittle/Salted Caramel, Mix Vanilla Caramel Almond/Chocolate, and Choc Almond. Their sell-by date corresponds to that of the previous products.
The latest recalls are the Multipack 2/3 ice creams: Caramel Attraction Chocolate Collection, Duo Vanilla Collection, Favorite Selection Macadamia Nut Brittle, Original Collection, Vanilla Collection. The expiry date stated on the jars is between March 8th, 2023 and April 29th, 2023.
When it comes to the vanilla flavor present in these preparations, which would include 2-chloro-ethanolall tastes may have been contaminated, many of which contain vanilla by default. Therefore, even if your ice cream is chocolate, it is wiser not to consume it and get rid of it because the risk of poisoning is very high.
