Electric car sales: sensational debut for the Renault Mégane E-Tech in July 2022
Renault’s new electric compact car effortlessly took the lead in the rankings in July. The e-208 remains at the top for the full year 2022.
Last week, when Renault presented its financial results for the first half of the year, Renault welcomed the electric Mégane’s good start. Confirmation with the July figures for the French market: The compact is already taking the lead in sales of electric vehicles. 1,937 copies were registered. This distances Renault from the Peugeot e-208, of which 1,379 units were sold. It must be recognized that the Mégane is in full introductory phase, so Renault had a lot of work to do.
The Lioness is keeping in shape as its sales are up 53% compared to July 2021. Those of the Zoé are down 17% with 953 deliveries. The former champion of the electric market was followed last month by the Fiat 500 (938 sales).
Then in 5th place we find the Peugeot e-2008 with 876 sales. Note that its German cousin, the Opel Mokka-e, launched in July and reached 10th place in July with 310 registrations. Still at Stellantis, the Citroën ë-C4 is in 9th place with 348 sales.

The Twingo resists spring
That fares less well than the Hyundai Kona, which despite its advanced age ended up back in 7th place with 711 sales. This makes it significantly better than the 143 Ioniq 5! And the Dacia Spring phenomenon? Last month, the low-cost electric motor sold 8th place with 661 units. This means it performs worse than the Twingo, which occupies 8th place with 818 sales.
In the first 7 months, the Peugeot e-208 remains at the top with 11,091 sales. But how long with the rise of the Mégane, launched in May? With 4,736 sales, this is already 7th place, even if there are still copies for workshops in the account.
The Spring is second with 9,864 sales, just ahead of the Fiat 500, a huge success with already 9,860 sales in 2022. The Zoé has declined with 9,078 registrations. Surprise: the good shape of the electric Twingo with 8,601 deliveries.
Note that in the 2022 top 10 we find the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y in 6th and 9th place with 7,808 and 4,011 sales respectively.
