Fan: Here is our comparison of the best models of summer 2022
Summer is here, high temperatures with it. And the summer of 2022 is particularly characterized by heat waves. Rather than give in to the air conditioner, we selected and tested four fans (Rowenta, Dyson, Ohyama and Xiaomi) to guide you to your future best friend who is a fan.
In summary
- the Xiaomi Mi Smart Floor Fan 2, a low-cost fan that can be controlled by voice. 99 euros at Xiaomi (but often out of stock), around 75 euros at Amazon.
- the Dyson Air Purifier Cool Formaldehyde, an ultra-high-end fan air purifier with a futuristic design. 699 euros at Dyson
- the Rowenta Turbo Silence Extreme+, A very powerful propeller fan with a silent mode perfect for sleeping in the middle of a heat wave. 159 euros at Rowenta, 99 euros at Amazon.
- the Woozoo by Ohyama, a small fan with a round design, available from Amazon for around 70 euros. The surprise nobody expected.
Will summer 2022 set new heat records? With incredibly high temperatures in June and heatwaves in July, everything points to fresh heatwaves hitting France in the coming weeks. Whoever says great heat generally means storage shortages with fans or other air conditioning systems and thus complicated evenings. In this article, we suggest that you anticipate your fan purchase before prices skyrocket and stock levels are at their lowest.
It should also be remembered that heat has many effects on the body and best practices should be used to avoid “heat stroke”: Stay hydrated, eat lightly, and avoid going out for hours In particular, the hottest are hygienic gestures, which must be constantly reminded, especially for the most vulnerable people.
It is possible to invest in a parking cooler to lower the temperature, but the fan is a more practical, cheaper and environmentally friendly solution. We have selected and tested three of them to help you choose from the hundreds of more or less good references on the market.
Xiaomi: connected fans at low prices
Known for its smartphones, computers, scooters, headphones, TVs and light bulbs (for almost everything), the Xiaomi brand also makes fans. One of its main strengths is its all-white, ultra-minimalist design that’s light years away from the nagging looks of other competitors. Who says Xiaomi also says connected, the entire Mi Smart Standing Fan range can connect to Wi-Fi to be controlled via the Xiaomi Home app or Google Assistant. “OK Google turn on the fan” is a reality at Xiaomi, although many more options are offered in the Xiaomi Home app.
The reference at Xiaomi is the Mi Smart Standing Fan 2, on sale on the Mi Store for 99 euros (but often out of print) and at 75 euros from Amazon. Since we couldn’t find one, we tested the more compact variant, the Mi Smart Standing Fan 2 Lite (about 70 euros at Amazon). The quality of the design is there (despite a slightly small foot it will probably need to be placed on a chair) and the ventilation is very comfortable while being quiet. Xiaomi proves once again that it knows how to do it when it comes to value for money. The app Xiaomi Home works very well and allows you to control your fan from your smartphone.

In summary
- Beautiful design all in white
- Remote control application
- Calm
Quiet and powerful: the Rowenta Turbo Silence Extreme+
So yeah, on paper, the Rowenta fan isn’t the hottest. Its design is that of a lambda fan. It’s controlled with an “old-fashioned” wheel and there’s nothing on the connectivity side. No Wi-Fi module or Bluetooth module on this model, it’s a fan that couldn’t be more classic.
However, the Rowenta Turbo Silence Extreme+ is by far the one that does its job best. His breath is extremely powerful without making you want to cough, his foot can be easily readjusted to gain him height, and to top it off, his night mode is exceptional. It makes almost no noise, it’s amazing. Its propellers then rotate slowly, providing a gentle sensation of freshness without being overdone. It is by far our favorite fan, especially since its price of 159 euros is rarely quoted in reality. It can be found at 99 euros on Amazon, which makes it a very good value for money fan. Especially considering his performance.

In summary
- The strongest of our three fans
- Really quiet silent mode
- An adjustable foot
- (But not connected and not very cool design)
About high end: Dyson Air Purifier Cool Formaldehyde
Do we need to introduce Dyson? You probably know the brand for the design of their products. Cool Formaldehyde Purifier is no exception to the rule. Forget the propellers, you can safely put your hand through this fan while it’s running. It is undoubtedly a beautiful product that you will want to put in your living room or in your bedroom, which is not the case with other fans.
The Dyson Purifier Cool Formaldehyde is not sold as a fan, but as an air purifier. It filters out a lot of things, making it a product in a different category than the previous two references in this article. Everything can be obtained from an extremely complete application that provides accurate information about the outside air and that of your space.
However, at 699 euros, it is primarily a design product. Its ventilation is nothing extraordinary, you have to put it high to really feel the fresh air and especially the modes that really cool the room make a lot of noise.

In summary
- An ultra-futuristic design
- Cleans the air
- A complete application
- (low ventilation)
The nice, little-known surprise: Woozoo by Ohyama
Coming from a little-known brand, the Woozoo fan proves to be wonderfully efficient in use and competes with well-known brands and models. Firstly, because its ventilation is impressive: the stirred air is pleasant, the range is great (you can feel it across the room) and you can orient it in many possible configurations, at 180 degrees vertically and horizontally, thanks to its rounding Shape that moves like a telescope.
Another advantage: the “natural breeze” mode. This feature reduces performance but automatically varies the fan speed – the result looks like a nice strong cool breeze. This mode offers competitive silence, making the ventilation very discreet and making it easier to fall asleep.
The fan can be fully controlled remotely thanks to a small remote control with on/off buttons, without even having to get up from the sofa. for each power mode; to activate the breeze; manage rotations; and even activate a timer (three timer modes: 1 hour, 2 hours or 4 hours, useful for saving energy).
Small (21 x 29 cm) and quite cute, it will easily find its place in the living room, on a desk, in a bedroom, with taste. In short, it’s a very nice surprise at an affordable price, between 68 and 80 euros depending on the color or the seller.

In summary
- A cute design
- A complete remote control
- A comfortable and very quiet “natural” wind mode
- 4 high-efficiency speed modes
- A timer
- Combinable vertical and horizontal rotation
- Low price for quality that will challenge or even surpass much more expensive fans
