Massive recall in France: These ice creams must not be eaten, they are dangerous!
On July 29, 2022, Rappel Conso issued a recall of several servings of Häagen-Dazs ice cream. The FASFC did the same on Thursday August 4, but this time for ice cream sold in Belgium. The agency urges consumers to be vigilant. The fact is that the recalled products can cause serious health problems if eaten.
Regarding the recalled ice cream
The FASFC announced Thursday, August 4, 2022 that several models of Häagen-Dazs ice cream are subjecta recall procedure. The reason ? All batches contain 2-chloroethanol. It is an extremely dangerous chemical contaminant.
The recall affects ten products:
- Belgian Chocolate (8 x 460ml)
- Biscuits&Cream (8 x 460ml)
- Duo Belgian Chocolate & Vanilla (8 x 420 ml)
- Duo Vanilla Hazelnut & Car (8 x 420ml)
- Duo vanilla brown & rasp (8 x 420ml)
- Macadamia Nut Brittle Prem (8 x 460ml)
- Macadamia Nut Brittel (24 x 95ml)
- Macadamia nut brittle (12 x 4 x 80ml)
- Pralines&Cream (8 x 460ml)
- Vanilla Pecan Prem (8 x 460ml)

Several large supermarkets have marketed these products in Belgium and Luxembourg. These include: Resuma, Colruyt, Delfood, Carrefour, Delitraiteur, Delhaize, Match, Makro and Cora. Note that the marketing dates of these products are between May 17th and August 3rd.
A carcinogenic pesticide
For information it is conduct an assessment that the manufacturer General Mills discovered the toxicity of ice cream. According to the latter, the fault lies with a vanilla supplier.

Several batches of ice cream affected by a recall in France

- Multipack ice cream: Caramel Attraction, Duo Vanilla Collection, Favorite Selection and Chocolate Collection. These products were sold between March 8th and July 29th, 2022 at several major distributors. These distributors include Casino, Franprix, Cora, Lidl and Intermarché.
- Ice cream, mini cups and cups: Vanilla Crunch Cookie, Vanilla Pecan, etc. They were available almost everywhere in France between March 16th and July 29th, 2022. Their expiry date is between March 16 and April 29, 2023. The stores that have marketed the products are: Carrefour, Casino, Auchan, Picard, Monoprix, Match, etc .
- Sticks and Mini Sticks: Macadamia Nut Brittle/Salted Caramel Mix Sticks, Vanilla Caramel Almond etc. These models were on the shelves between March 16th and July 29th, 2022. Among the stores they marketed were Cora, Franprix, Casino, Auchan, Système, Intermarché and Monoprix.

As stated by Rappel Conso, these are products are not consumable. So if you’ve bought any, you’ll either have to throw them away or bring them back to the store for a refund.
