SUVs continue to have a strong presence in new car sales in France. According to data from our partner NGC-Data®, they are still present in the first 6 months of 2022 more than ¾ of sales (46.8%) right in front of sedans (city cars, compact cars, etc.). The French still dominate

The top of the ranking is still dominated by French models. The Renault Captur and the Peugeot 2008 fight for first place with a handful of difference copies (exactly 1,867) in the middle of the year. In 2021, the Lion SUV had finally gained the upper hand over the diamond. Will 2022 be the same? The Peugeot 3008 still lurks on the third step of the podium. In the top five, the Dacia Duster was beaten by the Renault Arkana. The arrival of the new identity on the Dacia SUV should boost sales. The order book has been open since June 16 and deliveries will start in December.
The success of the Toyota Yaris Cross
A few models make it into this top 30. Let’s call it the Toyota Yaris Cross. The city SUV introduced in 2021 ranks directly in 8th placee Position with over 11,000 units sold. It’s hot on the heels of the Ford Puma rising in sales. The blue oval SUV seduces with its E85-compatible flexifuel variant. He takes the 7e place with 11,745 copies sold. The 5th generation of the Kia Sportage, marketed since January, increases to 16e position with 6,235 vehicles sold. The Tesla Model Y, marketed since August 2021, has experienced some delivery difficulties. Despite continuing to climb prices, it still managed to attract almost 4,000 customers, which allowed it to enter the rankings at number 25e Square.
The models that fall
On the side of the declining models is the Peugeot 5008. Peugeot’s 7-seater SUV in 7th placee 12th place at the end of 2021e at the end of the 1ah Semester 2022. Like many models, it is penalized by delivery delays and repeated price hikes. Unlike the Yaris Cross, the Toyota RAV 4 is losing ground. We’re betting the redesigned version – soberly renamed DS 7 – will boost sales when it arrives in Concessions in September.
