La Poste is removing its cheapest stamp, how to send your letters cheaper?

La Poste announced it: your offer will be reviewed next year. A reorganization that also entails the removal of an unknown brand, and yet the cheapest, the gray brand. This type of transmission, also called Ecopli, little emphasized and little used, is from the 1stah January 2023, as spotted by news site MoneyVox. Replaced by a more expensive stamp, what can you expect to get your letters mailed cheaper next year? Here are all the changes planned by La Poste.

The gray pistil, an endangered species

Gray stamp is the cheapest shipping method so far. So La Poste offers their Ecopli for only 1.14 euros and allows you to send mail or packages under 250 grams. However, at this price you should not be pressed for time, as the delivery time is around 4 working days. A cheap shipping method that La Poste users can still use until the end of the year.

To explain the disappearance of its Ecopli, although the question of purchasing power is at the heart of the French’s concerns, La Poste cites the low use of this type of mail. In view of the volume of mail processed by La Poste, the gray stamp weighs little: only 20 million Ecoplis are sent out of a total of 7 billion letters and parcels each year. It must be said that the gray stamp is far from the subject of heavy publicity. Well hidden, this fold is unknown to many French and appears very discreetly in post offices. The online stamp printing service MonTimbrenLigne even lacks it completely.

La Poste introduces its new range of envelopes

Parallel to the disappearance of the gray stamp, La Poste will be bringingah January 2023 in four parts. The green stamp that already exists today will be the cheapest, but the delivery time will increase from two to three days, still at a price of €1.16 for a shipment of up to 20 grams. Two cents more expensive than the Ecopli, for slightly faster delivery and less weight.

To deliver a letter faster, it will be possible to use the red e-letter, which is the end of the traditional red stamp. The principle ? Users are asked to send their letter directly via the Internet or from a post office. It is then printed and shipped directly at La Poste for next-day distribution. For such a speed it is necessary to pay € 1.49.

Another new type of folding will see the light of day: the turquoise letter. Halfway between ordinary post and registered mail, it will enable important documents to be sent by making them traceable, for example for delivery of checks or parcels, without providing legal proof of a registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt. The distribution period is two days at a price starting at €2.95.

The indispensable registered letter remains at the heart of the La Poste range and allows the transmission of applications that require legal proof. This can be the case, in particular, in the case of termination of a tenancy or the annulment of a contract. Shipping takes place in three days at a price from €4.83 instead of the current €4.55.
