Buying an e-bike: State aid for disabled or precarious people will increase from Monday
It’s a summer boost for a mode of transport presented as more ecological and economical: state aid for the purchase of an electric bike will be increased on Monday, with additional amounts for people in a disabled or low-income situation, according to a decree published Saturday in Official Newspaper.
The maximum bonus when buying an electric bike, reserved for people whose tax revenue per share is less than 13,489 euros, will be increased from 200 to 300 euros. From now on, she is no longer dependent on the payment of a subsidy from a municipality.
Another novelty: the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion specifies this in a press release “People with disabilities, regardless of their income level, are now eligible for the bonus previously granted only on a means test”.
For these people and for those whose reference tax income per share is less than or equal to 6,300 euros, the subsidy for the purchase of an electric bicycle can be up to 400 euros. This public is also entitled to a higher aid for the purchase of a cargo bike, a folding bike or an electric bicycle trailer: the maximum bonus that can be granted to them increases to 2,000 euros compared to 1,000 euros for the other beneficiaries of the aid.
For other more traditional types of bicycles, people with disabilities can claim grants of 40% of the purchase price, up to a maximum of 150 euros.
Bonuses, conversion bonuses and accumulated local aid
Finally, for people with disabilities or low-income earners who want to part with a polluting vehicle to buy an electric bike, the maximum amount of the conversion premium is increased to 3,000 euros, compared to 1,500 euros for other beneficiaries.
These aids, which can be combined with each other and with any local aid, will remain in force from August 15 to December 31, 2022, specifies the Ministry. In order to encourage the renunciation of an polluting vehicle in favor of buying a bicycle, the exchange premium will be increased from 1 January 2020ah January 2023.
